ZARAPITO
The group’s raison d’être is to explore the trio format, with a particular focus on the nexus of electronic and amplified sounds combined with curated acoustically generated vibrations.
Michael Pignéguy, Brodie Stewart and Joe Powell join forces in the group ZARAPITO. Performances at The Rechabite, The Ellington as well as video recordings have seen the outfit present a complete tableau of their sonic palette. Originals feature prominently as do re-interpretations of selected works from the contemporary jazz canon. The group aims to stretch ideas of musical interaction and expression while experimenting with different compositional forms. Expect performances on the edge where electronic and acoustic sounds collide!
